California State Championship Part 1
Sporter & Light Varmint
May 7 & 8 2011
We shot the first leg of the State Championship this weekend.
Saturday's weather was quite nice, temps ranged from 50 to 77 with 35% humidity.
Turnout was less than expected. We only had 20 shooters.
We started Saturday morning with Sporter 100 yards.
First Place: Tom Price .2258
Second Place: Greg Wilson .2460
Third Place: Bill Mellor .2752
Small Group: Craig Sinclair .126
Saturday afternoon was Sporter 200.
The weather really started to kick in, the wind and mirage were very strong.
First Place: Greg Wilson .3363
Second Place: Bryn Borras .4064
Third Place: Bob Dorton .4143
Small Group: Marty Childers .332
Interesting side note, every competitor had at least a 1+ inch group.
Small group and match 4 was .635.

Sunday we started with Light Varmint 200. We lost three shooters, so we were down to 17.
The weather was terrible from the outset. Low was 50 and the high was 63.
Humidity was at 50% most of the day. At one point the humidity was higher than the temp.

Second Place: Marty Childers .3533
Third Place: Art Kawai .3632
Small Group: Henry Pinkney .385
To show how bad conditions were, small group and matches 4 and 5 were both sixes, .660 & .628
Marty Childers was in fourth place after match four.
His fifth group was a .916 and he moved up to second place.
Sunday afternoon was Light Varmint 100. These were some of the worst conditions I have ever shot in.
