Boy, the more questions I ask the more questions I end up having.

I will build a F-Class rifle and now I get told about Brux Barrels. Never heard of them before. http://www.bruxbarrels.com/index.html

How about some experienced Brux barrel owners compare them with the other big name barrel makers like Hart, Krieger and others.

Also how about experienced big name barrel owners giving input about their barrels.

Thanks,

PS: Here is what I was going to do. http://benchrest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60451

I have two of them on F-Class rigs and both shoot great. One is a 6mm and one is a 7mm. Clean up is easy as well, very little copper fouling.

Norm and Ken are very capable barrel makers. Their barrels shoot as good as any.

I had some problems with my barrel last year @ FCNC... after shooting the squadded practice I noticed the muzzle crown looked like it had swallowed a rock. Night before Nationals starts, whaddya do?

Someone took me over to this little shop on the other side of Lodi... Norm Brux took my rifle, inspected the crown, chucked the barrel in the lathe and dialed it in, and put a new crown on it. Asked him what I owed him, and he said "Don't worry about it". I don't know for sure how good the barrels shoot (I have yet to hear any negative), but after that I swung by their booth @ Nationals and ordered a new barrel from them ;)

I have the barrel sitting in the safe... delivered exactly on time as they said. One thing and another I haven't had time/money to take the project I had in mind all the way to fruition, but I have to say so far I'm pretty impressed with the people in the company.

Haven't heard anything contrary yet. :):)

I've chambered one and it cut and finished as good as any other I've chambered. Delivery was on time as promised (4 wks) and the quality looked great. The owner hasn’t shot it yet but I bet its GTG. Real nice guys that own, run Brux. I'll order another real soon. I've yet to read or hear any negative concerning Brux and I've been asking for a while.

If you have a chance look through the equipment lists for IBS 600 yd. BR matches and you will see more and more Brux barrels in the top 10. You will see even more Brux barrels in this years matches and for good reason.

I just sent out my action today to Centershot Rifles, by the time the action gets to him the New Brux will be there too, it is going to be my new 6.5x284 x 8 1/2 twist x 30" long. hope it works as good as hear about them.

I have a new Brux (6 Dasher) On Monday I shot a 1.7 inch 5 shot group at 600 yards. I think they are just as good as any of the other barrels on the market.:D:D:D

I should get my 31" 6mm Brux blank next week. I'm sending it to Sharp Shooter Supply to have the chamber reamed, cutoff and crowned at 30" and threaded for a Savage Target duel port action with the 6 oz. Savage trigger. I understand I will need to adjust it to about 16 oz. for it to work properly and be safe. :)

three brux

I have three rifles barreled with Brux barrels, two in sporting or heavy sporting weight in 7rem mag and 6.5 creedmore and a heavy barrel in 6.5 x 47 fclass. All three are topnotch, half moa on all three and closer to quarter moa on the target rifle. I actually had a rush job last winter before a trip to Mexico- needed a new barrel in a week and they so kindly made it happen just before christmas. amazing to work with. I have used Schillen and kreiger and they are excellent but I cant get one in a week or even in 6 weeks. I would certainly put them on the list of barrels to try next time you need one.

gey a Brux...u like it!!!!!

just got my benchrest rifle and proceded to do the break-in process
shots 1-4 took 10 patches of striclty Butch's
shots 5-10 took only 6 patches of Butch's to totall clean

clean and shoot process resulted in 10 shots that were easily covered with a quarter @ 100yds. This was done w/ 6.5-284 using 139 Scenars.

Get one !!!!

almost ready

I am just about done making my stock from a block of wood, getting ready to bed it in the stock, I have a Brux 30" 8 1/2 twist 6.5x284, I have a box of Berger 130 VLD , any load recommendations to start off with.

I have no expierence with 130 Bergers and 6.5-284. With your exact setup ,I would run 139 Scenars to 142 MK's, I would start at 48.0 gr's of H4831 and run them till you get around 2930-2950 fps and see what the groups are telling you. You can run them faster, however brass and barel life get shortend and ur groups probably are not as good too. Maybe somebody else who uses 130 Bergers will chime in. The 6mmbr website is full of info on this caliber.

BTW: I also am using a 30" Brux with threaded barrel tuners, 1.25 straight contour and 8.5 twist.
