borescope illumination

So, a long time ago I purchased a Hawkeye borescope. At the time (if recollection serves me) you could order, for extra $$, a rechargeable, larger flashlight to illuminate the borescope and I did. I've noticed no difference between the 'included' mini-maglite illuminator and the fancier, rechargeable streamlight light. I'm debating getting rid of the Streamlight - can anyone tell me why I should keep it?

I use an LED maglite for the whiter/brighter light for my Gradient Lens borescope.

Actually,a buddy in the Non-Destructive Inspection business gave me said light that he had several manufactured 25years ago before maglite offered LED 2AA lights.

Yea. That mini mag with LED is really good. Really bright. Fits the adaptor also....

Some years ago when I first owned my Hawkeye, several of my friends raved about the LED upgrade. When I looked in a barrel with both versions, I found I preferred the conventional light. I don't know if it is xenon or what, but the LED seem so bright white that it washes out the view and makes the bore look cleaner that it really is.

I was lucky to have a few extra older mini-Maglite's when mine suffered battery leakage.
