Bill Dittman Won the August Riverbend Gun Club Score match with a Score of 500-35X!
Weather was good - pretty breezy and then about 2pm the sun came on full bore and tried to cook us all. But it was a great day of shooting with some great company.
We shot 200 yards first - mirage was slight - light switchy breeze - not strong but it was tricky - full reverses every 20 seconds would put you in the nine ring with ease.
1st Place - Bill Dittman 250-14X
2nd Place - Miles Gibby 249-10X
3rd Place - Wes Burke 249-9x
Production class - Bill Griffith 223-4x
As you can tell, Dittman had no problems at all with the switchy winds - he made it look easy. We moved the targets up to 100 yards and hoped for better conditions. The mirage got worse - the heat got worse - but the wind did lay down a little, giving us a little more time between switches.
With Dittman being so far ahead, the race was really for second place. After match 8 there was a four-way race for second place between Miles Gibby(399-21x), Roger Avery(399-21x), Jim Andress(399-20x), and Wes Burke(399-18x).
Here are the 100 yard scores:
1st place - Bill Dittman 250-21X
2nd place - Jim Andress 250-21X
3rd Place - Chris Gibby - 250-20X
production class - Hal Barnes - 242-5x
Which left the final grand Agg like this
1st place Bill Dittman 500-35x
2nd place Jim Andress 499-29x
3rd place Miles Gibby 499-28x
Prduction Winner - Bill Griffith 455-5x
It was a tough day of shooting in switchy wind. I was dropping points like Tiger shoots bogies. But Dad seemed flawless - just point and shoot. He shot LOTS of sighters each match - maybe that was the secret. He was heard cussing Brady Knight for not showing up - something about a pocket full of quarters.
Great shooting Dad!
