Best am/mo for CZ 453

Hi gang:

My friend bought the above rifle in 22 rimfire and is wanting to know what ammo do people find to be accurate in this rifle.

Any suggestions?

Do they still sell CCI Greentag?

Thanks,

Zeke

You’ll probably get many more responses if you go to RimfireCentral.com.

For what its worth, as a general rule, it doesn’t matter what make of rimfire you own. Each individual rifle will show preferences for differing ammo brands and levels within that brand.

Another general rule, with the usual rare exceptions, the more you spend on your ammo selection……the better it will shoot.

The last I checked, CCI Greentag was still available. It wouldn’t be the choice of any BR shooters, but it might shoot decent in your CZ.

Your biggest decision will be how much you’re willing to spend on ammo to achieve whatever your accuracy goal is and how many ammo type you're willing to test in that CZ.

I totally agree with these comments!!
Each one is its own critter. ;)

Does'nt look like Zeke got quite the answers he was looking for. I read the posts to say: This is an elitist forum for benchresters only. Go somewhere else. Your CZ is'nt much of a gun, and CCI is'nt any better......Zeke CZ's often shoot reasonably priced ammo quite well . I'd try some CCI SV, Fed 510, and auto match. best regards Plum

Mr. Plum,

You're reading way too much into this. I read Husker's response and agree 100%. Nothing eletist there. RFC has a forum dedicated to the CZ, not many around benchrest. In fact many questions may be better answered At RFC, typically it is known as "THE" 10-22 website. If you want true benchrest answers this is the place to come.

Do a search for ammo recommendations. You won't find many here that provide specific answers, as every gun is different in likes and dislikes. Standard answer is to use quality (reads as expensive) ammo of different types and test many different lots of said quality ammo. Many times, quality ammo is not required for intended use, ie hunting or plinking. I own a CZ and like it. Will I abandon my custom sporter and use the CZ in a match? No way in hell.

If you are offended by the answer above that you perceve as eletist, you may be in the wrong forum.

Mr Henderson:
Thanks for you comments. I appreciate it.

Plum:
At times, I’ve posted on forums and then went back to re-read my posts with some regrets about what I’ve said. I’ve re-read this post and honestly, I don’t see where I gave the impression you infer. I have nearly 50 rimfires and only 2 BR guns, so most of my shooting is with guns similar to the CZ.
No one on this forum was born with advanced knowledge of shooting, experimenting, or testing. We all started from where Zeke is now and other than a few who may have forgotten that……the great majority will freely provide help to the novice.

If you or Zeke feel offended, I apologize. But if I were truly a snob, why would I bother to explain this?

I hope Zeke re-visits this thread and makes a comment, because I’m very curious now.

Zeke,
I shoot a CZ 452 in our factory class and the gun shoots the Fiocchi 320 SM better than any other ammo that I have tried including Eley and Fed. UM1.
The gun shoots one hole 5 shot groups at 50 yards with no problem.
Hope this helps.:D
