Berger Bullets

I just picked up 1,300 rds of Berger 60Gr and 65Gr. Match FMJ Hollow points. I paid $15/100 from an old reloader friend of mine. Hopefully I can work out some good loads for my .223 and my 22-250. Although I think I'd like to stay lighter for the 22-250.

Berger 22

Berger makes some pretty good 22 cal bullets. I've had good luck with their 52 grain bullets. If you get a good deal on them, take them...

You keep mentioning light bullets for the 22-250. I'm curious why lighter for the 22-250 and heavier for the 223.

Based on what I know (which is very little) it is because of the twist rate. The faster (1:9) rate of the .223 likes heavier bullets. I'm all ears though to find out what you guys are actually doing.

Well, Adrian's .223 (used to be mine!) has shot its best groups with 40g VMax. It has also shot well with the 69g Match Kings...

Don't be afraid to give the light ones a try...

Are they Bergers?

Ssheets,

You may want to double check what you purchased. We do make a 22 cal 60 gr FB bullet but not in FMJ. Also, we have never made a 65 gr in 22 cal and to my knowledge there is no such thing as a match grade FMJ made by anyone (Berger has never made an FMJ style bullet).

There are many on this forum who are better equiped than me to provide you with pet loads for these or any 22 cal bullets.

Regards,
Eric

Well, those are Bergers alright. Those bullets were likely made even before my time (1990). The 65 gr may have been changed to a 64 gr (that we make today) due to a die change the put the lead up to the nose. I'll have to ask Walt about that one.

These bullets were definately made when the shop was at Walt's house. You've got some good bullets there.

Eric

Yes, he said these were from Walt himself. The guy I got them from name is Joe. He used to be a competitive benchrester.
