Berger 135 gr Bullets

Berger has dropped the 135gr, 30cal target bullets. However, they still have a few boxes on the shelf. I just received 10 boxes since they are my favorite Hunter class bullet in my 30HBR. Call Annetta Rooney at Berger Bullets @ 714/447 5484. They are going to scrap what left at the end of the month. These bullets shoot great in a 1/15 barrel.

The 135gr Berger's are made on an 8 ogive die and a 1.080" jacket. The 125gr were made in the same die, but on a 1" jacket. By using a 7 ogive die, it would be no problem to custom make bullets in the 135gr range on 1" jackets. These would also stabilize in the 17" and 18" barrels. It's sad to see that Berger has dropped 3 out of 4 (110, 125, 135) of their 30 caliber short range bullets. The only bullet left (115gr) is the bullet that I talked Eric into producing almost 7 years ago. They have only been in production for around 4 years now.

When I called, they had 28 boxes of 100ea left. I bought 10. I called a friend who also uses them and he said he'd give them a call. I don't know if he did or not. Keep trying; they sure work for me. I used to use another famous bullet makers 136's which were great. When they began to be hard to get, I tried the Berger 135's. I didn't even have to change my load. They shot the same point of impact without a change of load, overall length setting, or even a sight adjustment. I'm sure sad to see them go.

Well..at $57 a box...I had to pass...why would they scrap any unsold product..??...I would think they would sell them at a bargain price..!

This is not the first time Berger has said they would scrap stuff if they couldn't get full retail. Bullets jacket prices have pretty much doubled in 3 years, and copper prices haven't. A lot of bullet makers have switched to Sierra jackets. They are half price and shoot just as well. I see a lot of greed in the firearms industry. Not everyone thinks the same way you and I do, Eddie. I would have sold them at close to actual cost if I was in charge.

Sierra would make a good 30 cal FLAT BASE target bullet selection.

Their 135gr Matchking is an excellent shooting bullet. How hard would it be to core seat and point them up with a flat punch? If enough people bug them, they might do it. They wouldn't have to make anything, just set up the press, and run it.

Strange; I called a few years ago and they didn't have the least interest in the flat base target bullet. Perhaps they had all the business they wanted in the Matchkings.
