Could anyone steer me to any info or links for Benchrest shooting in Texas. Clubs, ranges, stuff like that. F-class also. I'd like to see that.
I'm in the DFW area and I can't turn up anything with internet searches.
Some the national and international associations don't show anything in Texas.
Thanks a lot

Charles,
Where are you at? The Denton, Tx. club holds club and registered matches. The Terrell Gun Club just started club matches last year and we will have more this coming year. This a link to our club in Terrell. http://www.tr-pc.com/

Hi Charles

As Butch said, we have seven club and two registered matches at Denton. It's at the North Texas Shooter's Association range that's located on Rector Road about five miles north of Denton. At the club matches, we shoot a score match in the morning and a group match in the afternoon. One month we shoot at 100 yards and the next at 200 yards. It costs $25.00 and you don't have to be a member to participate or to come out and visit. The first club match will be in March but I don't know the date yet.

Get in touch. Shelley Davidson 817 307 0670 or shelleyforhire@yahoo.com.

Charles,
Come out to Denton. A few of us Bench rest shooters are there every Saturday. You will need a member to get in so if you are interested call Shelley. If he’s not around you can call me any time.

They shoot some F class down at Tigger Valley near Waco.

Benchrest is pretty active in Texas in what is called the Gulf Coast Region and we are fortunate to have a number of National Champs that shoot both group and score. plus a few guys that aren't National champs but shoot great anyway.
Plus as you may know the great Shilen Barrels, Stiller Actions, and Jewell Triggers are made in Texas.

Thanks guys. Yall up at Denton I'll be to see you soon.
And Ted, I'm really familiar with Shillen Barrels. Heard of them all my life. Met Mr. Shillen last summer and also met the new owners. All of them shoot occasionally at the Ennis range. A large group of us in the Ennis club got an owner guided tour through the factory.
As soon as I decide on a donor rifle I'll be having them build me a .260 barrel. Also probably have them rebarrel my 700 Rem. varminter when I can afford it.

Hello everyone, sorry for bring up an old post but I just cam crossed it. We are thinking about relocating to the Dallas TX area and I was wondering if there is any bench rest score shooting along with rim fire ?? I have a nice 30 br, 22ppc and a Gorden eck .22lr that I really like to shoot. Any input would be much appreciated. Thank you

100 vfs

ktval,

We have 100 yard VFS matches on the 4th Saturday of the month at my club. http://www.arlingtonsportsman.com/
I'm not sure Denton is hosting any more club shoots, but I think they still have a registered match or two each year. I have shot up there for several years, and it is a very nice club to shoot at also.
My club is located on the south side of DFW in Mansfield. We normally shoot VFS matches March - October, but in 2015 our semi annual work day falls on our Saturday to shoot, so we are skipping March in 2015 and we will start in April. Address is 11500 County Road 525 Mansfield TX 76063

You do not need to be a member to shoot. Cost is only $5 (and kids shoot free).
It is a very informal fun shoot, but semi competitive.
We normally have 5-7 BR shooters, and 2-4 Factory class shooters each month. We always have room for more.
Check in time is 8:00am and we start shooting as close to 9:00am as we can.
We just finished a complete rebuild of our 100 yard range and it is really nice (not even sure the web site has new pictures up yet).

They also have 2 rimfire matches per month on the 50 yrd range, and I can put you in touch with that Match Director if you want. I am only in charge of the VFS matches. We actually have had a couple of the rimfire guys come shoot with us on occasion to get some work in at 100 yards with heir rimfires.

You can message me here, or contact me via my contact page on my website www.p1zk.com
