Bausch & Lomb Scope Repair follow-up

A couple of weeks ago I posted that I had dropped a rifle and it landed on the scope and probably bent the tube. It was a Bausch & lomb 6 x 24 x 40mm w/AO. Shipped to Bushnell. Just found out they want $365 plus $10 shipping to repair. Someone posted that Leupold would be about $100 to repair. Well this is tough.....if it were $200 to $275 no brainer. But $375.............makes me think I should just spend the extra money and buy a Leupold. Any thoughts ????????

What to do

I think you just answered your own question, and my answer would be the same.

When Natchesz puts the Bushnell 4200 6x24 on sale, their priced around 340.00....that's better than the repair. I think they may be on sale now. I bought a 8x32 4200 on sale a year or so ago for 385.00

Kevin. WOW!! Nice price.
I have both. Very nice scopes. I paid full price.
I think, they are better than the same/equivalent Leupold. Side by side comparison. Just at the gun shop looking across the street.
But, at the range. A Competition Leupold 45X is very nice. :)

I got the price off the computer....they had a code on note they sent to check status. However, it also said letter being mailed to me. It just occurred to me that they might be offering me a current production scope instead of repair. Will post when letter comes. Thanks for the replies. Jim

Sounds right...

A new scope in exchange for a price is what they offered me years ago. Although my scope had a warranty repair (hazed up on the inside), they still wanted to send me a new scope for $350 exchange. They stated that my scope was obsolete and was not repairable. I guess they forgot they made no mention of "obsolete" in their life time warranty statement.

I have never purchased one of their scopes since.

That's a heck of a deal, keep your damaged scope and charge you more than what you can buy one for on sale......least they could do is sell you one a wholesale.

If you have ever seen BAT MACHINES add ,It says buy the best and cry once! Stick with someone that has a life time guarentee.;)

I received the letter from Bushnell today and I was correct. Said they could not repair the scope and offered me a 4200 6 x 24 for $365 plus $10 shipping. Not a deal I will take. I can order the same thing from Jerry's for $395. It is hard to beat a Leupold for their service. Thanks for all the replies.

Go Leupold...

I've been eyeballing this one for my rimfire silhouettes gun. I have a Mueller 4.5 - 14 x 40 AO - APV on it now and I just don't have the confidence in the repeatability of the settings like I should. In a match this saturday it was off by about 2" when I dialed 30 clicks down for the chickens. 2" on rimfire chickens might as well be 2 feet!
