bat vrpic single shot

Hello everyone, been lurking on these forums for a while and I need some advice from people with much more experience than I . Question is I have an opportunity to purchase a Bat vrpic single shot action that is new for a good price and was wondering if this action could be used for bench rest shooting, and if accuracy would be on par with a bat sv, or B action. It has a flat faced bolt instead of the cone shape, and would be chambered in 6Br . Any help would be appreciated, thanks!!

A flat faced bolt will not reduce accuracy. Coned bolts simply facilitate faster loading.

Essentially from what I can find on the Bat website it is just a rem 700 clone. As near as I could find they say nothing about tolerances being looser. Is it a .308 boltface? If so it should be fine for a 6BR.

Thanks, yes it is a .308 bolt face short action. I did read on another forum that the tolerances were a little looser but im not sure. If it is looser, could that affect accuracy?

IMO the right person could make a competitive 600-1K Light rifle from it,

as it sets it's a good Remington clone.

In a theoretical world yes tighter tolerances can lead to better accuracy. In the real world I think as long as everything is straight any action can be very competitive.

Good to know. With this information I think I will buy this action and try it. thanks.

And since most of the shooting internet

is populated by people who seldom pull a trigger, you believe the "looser specs" statement. I know of not a single BAT item that has loose specs. One HELL of a lot tighter than anything ever to come out of Remington. Stop believing everything you read and exercise your own brain cells.

I hear what your saying . My lack of knowledge is why I asked the question on this forum about this action. And I thank you all for the answer. Before I posted this thread, I did try to exercise my brain cells, but 78 out of 100 had severe cramps, and were not working properly ;) thanks again!!

Don't worry about David, it's just his sunny disposition shining through. You should hear him when he is cranky.

You say you can get this action at a good price. I have to say if you are getting it for say just a little off Bats price, say up to 10% range, don't do it if it is not exactly what you really want. For instance for my money I prefer both coned bolt and a bigger diameter action (1.55") but that's my personal preference. On the other hand if it is immediately available is a consideration also.

Good advice. It is available and I have bought it, and I think for what I am going to do, this action will work just fine. I have a 6br built on a sv action now so when I get this thing built ill try a comparison. At my level I doubt ill see a difference.

At anybody's level I doubt you would see the difference.
Enjoy your new rifle.

PS: In my experience if it has the Bat name on it you will love it, I own 3 and have had 4 total. My best friend has 7 I believe.
