Barnes says to load the Grenads .050 from the lands. This will put the bullet
below the neck shoulder junction. What are the pro and cons of doing this, if
any?

Ignorance is Bliss

Haven't read the info. you refer to. No one at Barnes has shot my rifle so I seat to just "kiss"

The triple shocks I shoot, most are seated .020-.060" from the lands, but the grenades (I'm only shooting the 36 gr.) are seated into the riflings. Sure am glad I didn't read the notice from Barnes!!!!

The lands

I've been seating my VG in 6MM kissing the lands also. Them there bullets shoot like lazer bolts.

Barnes Varmint Grenade Seating Depth.

Just off the lands is as good a place as any to start testing but if you are not getting good results, try seating them deep. My Swift gives 1/2" accuracy at 4500fps but only when they are seated .198" off the lands. Try different primers also, as they can have a profound effect on accuracy, my load likes CCI 200 but yours might like REM91/2 or Winchester.

Murphy have you?

Have you shot any critters with those VGs yet? Coyotes are not cooperating with me yet.
