On behalf of the IBS, I want to personally apologize to Robert Ross and the Midwest Benchrest range in Yukon, MO. Robert did, in fact, submit a bid for the 2012 1000 yard Nationals on October 31, 2011. The email that he send to our 1st VP, Dick Grosbier went to an email address that Dick does not routinely monitor. Further, Dick had a hard drive failure shortly thereafter which compounded the problem. We screwed up. This, of course, was coupled with the issue related to the Colorado bid.
Jeff Walker (IBS Executive Secretary and LR Committee member) and I had a recent conversation with Robert Ross about his bid and the fact that we did not officially know of it until after the IBS Annual Meeting. In that call, I personally conveyed my apologies to him. Robert has graciously agreed to host the 2013 1000 yard Nationals. This year's Nationals will be at White Horse, WV.
As for the 1K SOY points situation. I think a fair solution is in the works. The IBS EBoard and Long Range Committee have listened to comments from the clubs. The Committee will modify the rules to even the playing field regardless of the number of benches in use.
The geographic extent of IBS's long range discipline has begun to challenge the administrative structure that we have employed since the IBS's birth in 1970. I recognize that there is a need for change and I am committed to direct some changes both in the near- and mid-term. Stay tuned please.
