Former VA1000 member and past Vice President, Ron Smith passed away yesterday. Ron was a joker first, a shooter second. Ron always made the day fun for most of us and definately for himself.
He had a saying, " I have fun where ever I go." I know that he is having fun even now.

I do not know of any details yet of the arrangements, but I will pass them on when I hear of them.

We will miss you Ron.

PS, Ron was the one who tagged me with that nickname.

....and the streets of heaven are guarded by one more old Leatherneck.

What a character. The last time I seen him we were at Quantico. He was definitely having fun and pulling some triggers also. It was a good last memory.

At least now he can stand tall without any pain. Based on conversations I had with him over the years it has been many years since he was without pain.

Semper Fidelis to Ron and his generation that served in Vietnam. Not enough thanks to those boys for their service and thier ranks are getting thinner every year.

Arrangements

Ron's wife, Pam, told me that he will buried in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., where he was from. Flowers and cards can be sent to the Wrenn Funeral home in that town. The viewing is thursday night and a graveside service on Friday.

Our prayers are with the rest of the family.

Danny
