AMT Action info

Hey guys. New here and looking for info on the Amt rifle actions. Any help. Like size, thread tennon, bases, how good are they? Do they make good long range actions for long term. As good or better than a Remy? I am considering a medium single shot with 473 bolt face. Thanks...

Let's see. There was a long thread -- either the competition forum or the gunsmith forum -- because Roy in NC needed a bolt shroud to fix a friends AMT. Lots of contact info given for different peolple who might have the part, but Roy is still looking. If you have a lathe and mill, you can make just about anything. Roy does, and that's probably what he'll end up having to do.

Not picking on AMT of course, this would be true for any action where the maker is no longer on the scene.

Try contacting Sam Peredes of Gun owners of America. He used to work for the company that manufactured the actions.

Thanks.

I'm not sure how I would get ahold of him. I checked there web site but didn't see where I get a members info or how to find him. Any more info on that would be appreciated. Thanks....

Is someone finally selling them?

It's been rumored for years that there was a bunch of them that were in various stages of completion floating around, but haven't heard much lately.

Good shooting

Thanks for the info

I will try and e-mail them and see what I get. I was curious. There are so many good actions out these days. My smith has one and doesn't carry much of opinion. Says there o.k. but has never worked with them. I thought I remembered they had 1/4 longer thread tennon, used a remy style trigger and has close tolerences with bolt to action and lug lockup. I do not know for sure. Want to make a possible 1k gun. I can't remember because you never see them for sale and my smith has it burried away and doesn't want to check. Sounds weird but if you knew him you would understand. Thanks for anymore info.

I`ve owned 2.... 1- .473 boltface and 1- .222 boltface..... each stainless.... they`re good actions..... better than Rems... but not as tite as pandas, stillers, bat or nesikka .... but 1/2 the price....my brother now owns the .473 boltface.... has about 5 K rounds on it from a .308 used it for "F" class....and now for the last 2 years it`s been a .284...... 2K rounds... I kept the small boltface and use it as a 30-223 for HP metallic silhouette....
there`s no magic to chambering them.... same as rem... but if I remember corrrectly a 30* coned boltface....

Thanks. That's the kind of info I'm looking for. Do you or anyone know how long the thread tennon is? How about overall action length? I take you guys have never had any issues with yours?
