Agg deifinitons

Just a nagging question, about something I have always just accepted but never understood.
If you shoot a .250 at 100 yards the recorded agg is .250
If you shoot a .500 at 200 yards the recorded agg is .250
Why?
What is the math behind this?
MOA?
What would the recorded agg be for 1.500 at 500 yards?

Yes

Vern all aggs are in MOA and group size is actual size.& .300 I believe.

and to clear up

what someone who wants to be too anal, MOA for benchrest use is not true Minute Of Angle as used in surveying or astronomical calculations. We divide by the rounded off 100 yard equivalent.

. . . What would the recorded agg be for 1.500 at 500 yards?

No one shoots aggs that include 500 yards AFAIK. If they did, 1.5" would be agged at .300.

In long range Benchrest, groups at 600 and 1000 yards are recorded as their true measurements.

MOA is usually rounded off in all shooting disciplines, not just Benchrest aggs. That makes it a lot easier to figure. And it also provides fodder for arguements by those anally inclined. ;);)
