Accurate 25 06?

I read an article that told the story that a major "custom" rifle mfg. had a very difficult time in getting the rifles chambered in 25 06 to shoot accurately. I asked my gunsmith to make me a rifle chamberd in 25 06 and he replied, "I could never get the 25 06 to shoot." Now this is coming from a very capeable benchrest gunsmith who has had his rifles win many matches and set records.

What are your results with the 25 06? Good or bad or...?

25-06 is probably the most popular caliber that I barrel for. It is very popular here in South Carolina for deer (and will turn a coyote inside out!). I never had an accuracy problem with the cartridge.

My last 25-06 was a Rem 40X Stainless action w a 27" barrel. All from Rem Custom Shop. It would agg 1/4" or less.

Accurate Issues with the 25 include bullets and barrels. BIB makes very good 25 bullets. Bergers bullets are quite good.

The 25 needs a longer barrel to be accurate otherwise the muzzle blast may destabilize the bullet.
