Sir,
Whilst preparing a batch of 6PPC cases for competition, I accidentally trimmed the case necks too far. They currently measure 1485 + / -. I understand for a overall chamber length of 1510, the recommended trim length is 1495.
I am currently shooting Bart's Boattails out of Krieger 13.5 tw /14 tw barrels, with a 045 leade.
I am shooting the boat tails at 7thou off the lands (7thou back down from where the bearing surface of the bullet just touches the lands).
Should I throw the cases out and start again?
What are the consequences in terms of accuracy of loading up short neck cases? and,
Given the short cases hold the boat tails securely should I be concerned or, is there a disadvantage shooting with short case necks?
I thank you for all your previous assistance.
