I wanted to take a few moments and go over some things I’ve had had on my mind.
As everyone that shoots with us knows, last year I tried something new and had sub sandwiches brought in for lunch, this was to help raise money for the 4-H club and to make things a little easier on the shooters(not having to drive down the road to Subway). We also tried Bar B-Q on two different occasions with two different cooks. As of now the Bar B-Q is out so that would leave us with the sandwiches from the local sub shop.
So far this year we’ve not had a lunch and I’ve received no complaints. No complaints are far less than I received last year about having subs each month. To my knowledge the Denton matches have never had a regular lunch setup. That leaves me with my question, subs delivered or Subway down the street?
Next on my list is the format we have always run for our club matches(VFS in the morning fallowed by Group after lunch).
It makes it much easier to hit the X in the morning before the wind starts blowing but our aggs suffer in the afternoon. We have always shot score in our club matches but I don’t think anyone could argue Denton is more of a group shooting club. Last year we reversed the order a couple times without much trouble. I was thinking we could do a coin toss at the time of the bench drawings to see what we would shoot first. This would still give everyone a full hour to make caliber adjustments. Thoughts?
Last but not least I wanted to remind everyone about the Shooter Of The Year prize.
Jerry Stiller of Stiller Precision Firearms will be supplying all the components and donating the work to build a full blown competition rifle. As we’re doing our best to promote sanctioned VFS matches in our region this rifle will be a 13 ½ pound 30 cal. Please see the end of this post for rules and requirements.
And as always, if anyone has any questions about Denton’s matches you can reach me on this forum or by phone at 682/465/3383. Thanks.. Jon Conley
