8mm .318/323 loading dies. Can I use .323 dies to load .318 RJ carts?

I have 8mm .323 regular dies. I am not sure that with the proper shell holder that I can correctly load .318 rimmed carts.with these dies. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Pligrim

Not sure exactly what you are asking here?

Are you asking if you can use .323 diameter bullets in a .318" groove size barrel? If that's what your asking I say no. Major pressure issues.

If your asking if you can use your standard 8mm dies that load a .323 bullet in your cases that are set up for .318"/8mm rimmed cartridges? I say no also. The .318" diameter bullet will most likely not be held by the case would be my guess because the .323" bullets for the standard 8x57 round will not neck the case down far enough.

With out looking it up I do believe the rim sizes are different between the two rounds so you most likely will need a different shell holder as well.

Need more info. as to what you are exactly trying to do.

It is common for certain brands of one piece FL dies to over size necks (which is why expander balls have gotten such a bad rap), and since you will need a proper shell holder in any case, I would go ahead and pick one up and do a test, sizing one rimmed case without the expander ball to see if there is enough reduction of the neck diameter to properly hold the smaller bullets. If that works, you could get a second expander and reduce its diameter so that it is either non functional, and just acts as a decapping pin retainer, or expands necks only slightly, if that is needed. If that does not get the job done, I would check with CH/4d about a set of dies.
