I think it is too overbore for 1000 yard. It would eat up barrels. If you are set on a 7MM you would be better suited with a 7SAUM. Better accuracy and barrel life.

Refresh my memory. The 7mm Hart is a 7 Rem Mag improved to 40 degrees, correct?

I think it is a 300 Weatherby case necked to 7mm and blown way forward with a 40 degree. I think it is just like the 30 Hart.

7mm Rem Mag is best
I have tried both 7mm Rem Mag & 7mm WSM, and I believe that both are overbore. The wsm is the worst by far, while ironically from a 300 WSM I received the best barrel life ever from a heavy gun, (4500+ rounds) and it was still competitive when taken off. I found that with a 7mm Rem Mag, I can get about 1200-1300 rounds, then it will fall off sharply. I you want to shoot a round over 2900 fps then use a blown out case, but be ready to change barrels very quickly.
