Thinking about building a lightweight varmint rifle in 6ppc, action would be a Remington model 7. Anyone know if the rifle would function (feed and eject) with this cartridge?
I know PTG sells bolts for the model 7 with ppc boltface.
Thanks Joe

Are you meaning

a lightweight critter rifle or a LV competition rifle? If you are looking at a PD or Gopher rifle, go for it. If you are thinking competition, please realize you are pretty much wasting your time and money.

I have had people tell me they made 700's in PPC feed from the magazine fine. But most I have ever seen ejected ok but on pushing the bolt forward to feed the cartridge out of the magazine the cartridge usually flies out of the rifle.

So the short answer to will it " feed and eject" is NO.

If your model 7 was originally built in a 223 case size then it is easy to modify the feed rails to function. If the receiver was a 308 size case. Well not so easy they usually fly out unless you epoxy or weld the rails and re-cut them.

This could easily be true, all the PPC converted 700's I ever owned or dealt with were formerly .243, 22-250, or other 308 bolt face cal.'s
