60gr Nosler BT out of AR-15

Today I was shooting new LC brass containing 25.8grs of TAC with CCI SR mag primers (I bet 10 to 15 years old). Best I could do was 2"MOA with this load.(100yds) I also shot 25.5grs of TAC same brass and primer but different bullet Sierra 65gr Game King with that load I was able to get 1"MOA (100yds). With 55gr Nosler BT 26 grs Benchmark powder and a standard SR primer I also get 1"MOA. So what can be deduced from this data ? Trying to load up some consistent 250 yd coyote loads.

I've not used TAC, but thought it was a pretty fast powder.

I prefer flat trajectory, so I go with lighter bullets.

50gr V-Max and 55gr Blitz Kings work for me with .22-250 Rem 700 VLS and223 AR respectively.

My dad has killed deer, hogs and coyotes with the 50gr V-Max in the VLS.

I prep the LC brass with primer pocket swager from RCBS and go back over it with Redding uniformer, then finish prepping the brass size, debur/chamfer etc. For hunting accuracy, it is on par with commercial stuff, and easier on the pocket book.

Reading from 6mmbr site, the newer LC brass has larger water capacity that the Remington. This contradicts the thinking that the military brass is thicker and, consequently, having a smaller ID.

I use 2.25in OAL to fit the P-MAG, 2.26in OAL jams every once in a while. When I single fed, I scored the bullets at 2.28. .02 jump isn't bad in a new mass-produced factory rifle that is magazine fed. :)

Worker, sometimes when time is limited........

we have a tendency to go to the range with too much to do, and too little time to do it. I usually try to go with one gun, at most two. And I try to find out whats going on with one combination. In the past I found that I was not getting the info I wanted & needed by taking too many units, and too many loads. Sometimes I take one that I'm not developing a load for, one that I may want to confirm the settings on, or play with, to break up the workday.;) And sometimes it can be real work, just not as bad as a job......if you get my drift. :D

Also, I'd pick up a few different primers.

SR, SRM in a couple brands.

CCI SRM is popular with AR, but I use Fed 205 and they have been great.

I did a 10shot 100yard match recently and hit 1.2in. It was my first match.

These loads were 69gr SMK, Rem brass, 24.5gr R15, and the aforementioned 205 primer. I like the R15 and Varget powders for > 60gr.

So some say TAC is to fast burn rate ?

For 60 gr bullets ? But if performed very well with the 65gr bullets ???? Plus Bench Mark has performed well with 65gr bullets also and that has a faster bgurn rate then TAC ???
