6.5x47

Build it around an 8 twist, 24"-26" and shoot the 130 Berger VLD's about .010" in the lands. RL-15, Varget, N-550, H4350 will be good powders to try. You can throat it for the 123's & 130's or go shorter for the lighter bullets. I've built three 6.5x47L's and they flat out shoot. My reamer is throated for the 123/130's. Two of the rifles are shooting the 130 Bergers and one shoots the 123's, all are 8 twist. I have a 6.5 Bartlein barrel on order for a 6.5x47 build I will be doing for myself in February, that’s when the stock will be here :( great caliber. Good Luck

Lambsey,

Welll, maresy doats and dozy doats and wnroscoe's given you good, but IMO you should have it throated with .030 freebore so that you can shoot any bullets. Or, since you're crosspond you could order the reamer with zero freebore and for 135.00 USD more you could have a HAND-throater sent with it so that you could set the throat wherever you want it. I've done this a bit and it's right handy.

The 8" twist bbl will shoot light pills just fine except that you can expect to find hunks and chunks of Reddy Fox scattered across the landscape after a solid hit. If you're a pelt hunter you may want to use the heavies.

6MMBR.com is a good website as is 6mmhot.com

This is a fairly new round and not well explored except by certain target shooters so info is where you find it.
