Hey, Guys I am considering a 6.5 build with plans of shooting a thousand yards and beyond would appreciate any suggestions thanks for help.

Are you near a 1000 yard range? If so I recommend talking to the shooters face to face. There are so many options; 6.5/284, 260, 6.5x55, 6.5 Creedmore. Look at the match results if you plan to compete. A good benchrest gunsmith who builds winning competition rifles is also a good resource.
I have a 6.5 barrel in the safe and I am currently leaning toward the 260 as I favor barrel life over speed.
The good news is I don't think you can go wrong here with any of these choices.

I have a built 260 based on a Rem 700 action, 30" 8.5 twist, Bartlein barrel. I shoot the 142 SMK at 600 yards and score very well.

before you build, go find the old Geoffery Kolbe (Border Barrels man) article on long range ballistics http://www.triplej.com.au/pdfpages/LongRangeBallistics, and read it carefully, then have a look through the bullet manufacturer's sites and compare the ballistic coefficeints of their 6.5mm bullets with the BCs of the bullets in Dr Kolbe's article.
from memory, the highest BC that Sierra have for a 6.5mm match king, puts it in the same class as 180gr .30 caliber bullets, which is not very exciting.
The 190gr .308 Sierra match king is excellent to 1,000 yards out of a .308 win, but drops to subsonic before 1,200 yards, with very bad effects for accuracy, so the even lower Ballistic coefficeint 6.5mm will be even more of a disappointment at that range (launching them faster doesn't translate into better retention of velocety either).
It is a shame, but I've not seen any 6.5mm bullets in my limited searches, with ballistic coefficeints to better the 200gr plus .30 cal bullets.

I've checked again, Berger has a 6.5mm 140gr VLD with BC 0.612
7mm 180gr BC 0.659
.308" 190gr BC 0.570 210gr BC 0.631
Measurements quoted by G Kolbe (made by JH Carmichael) have a .308 210 gr Berger bullet with MV 2566 fps, arriving at 1,200 yards with 1,099fps, so supersonic, but only just.
read the paper anyway and see what you think
