6.5 creedmoor vs 6.5x47 lapua

Gonna put a new barrel on and wanted some help to decide between the two. Looking to rebarrel a remington for this. The stock is pillared and bedded and I will be using a jewel trigger.
Does one tend to be more inherently accurate than the other or is it pretty much a toss up? Anyone here have experience with both?

I've been shooting a 6.5x47 quite a bit this fall. Very accurate. There isn't much difference between the 6.5x47, 6.5 Creedmoor and the .260 Remington. The 6.5x47 will fit in a short action magazine more easily. If you are going to load for it, go 6.5x47. If you're planning on using factory ammo then go 6.5 Creedmoor. Hornady makes some good 6.5 Creedmoor ammo. I'm shooting a 130 gr Berger VLD hunting bullet at 2935 fps measured on a Oehler 35 chronograph. 26" barrel.

I've found the 6.5X47L to be more inherently accurate because you can run the pressures much higher. IMO it's a huge step up from the others.

Anyone with a 308 can test this concept using the new Palma cases to find a couple hundred fps and better accuracy IN THE SAME CHAMBER.

Any advice on the reamer? I think I would like to shoot 130 berger vld

One other thing I forgot to ask...Does anyone know off hand what a loaded round measures at the neck...I would like to make it a turn neck and would decide based on the loaded round....

A .290" neck will work for a tight neck chamber if you want to neck turn. I used a .295" neck reamer to open up the neck on mine as my reamer has a .292 neck and I didn't want to turn necks.

Now, that makes sense ^^^^^^. Who makes 6.5x47 lapua brass,,,,, Lapua,,,,,, touted to be some of the most consistant in the industry, so,,,,, why turn necks?
 
You still gotta turn lapua. If you barely skim cut some youll see its not concentric. But you cant blame em they cant hold tolerances on that long draw to the tenth. Its still waaaay better than other brands

I've just had such good luck with turn necks that I have stuck with them. I think one just gets straighter ammo and better release but what do I know....
 
All depends upon what you want out of the rifle and what how you are going to use it. I detest turning necks and will only turn them for my benchrest rifles. My rifle is a Rem varmint contour barrel on a hunting stock. It's getting plenty good enough accuracy for what I'm wanting. Compete then neck turn.
