I have just received my new barrel chambered in 6.5-284, for my Bat 'MB' 17 pound rifle.
I want to shoot 600-1000yd with it.
The chamber neck diameter is .300" according to my smith.
I have some new Lapua brass and have cut just enough off the necks to try to clean them a little, .0161 and will end up close to .003" clearance.
Out of the 100 odd cases, i have ended up with about 6 with still .001" neck wall variation and about 5 with about .0015" variation.
Of the 90 odd cases about half are less nearly true and half are about .0005 variation.
Should i cut another .0005 bringing the total clearance to .004" or run with what i have done so far?
Just wondering to what degree this will effect the accuracy? and what would be your recomendation?
Thanks
