I have a soon to be completed 6-284 in a trued short Rem. 700 reciever with a finished length of 27in Lilja #7 1-12. I have Lapua brass and I would prefer to use 75vmax because I already have 1k of them sitting on the shelf. I also have plenty of 210m or 215m and about five new unopened 1lb H4350.

I like FPS and based on some of the different things I have read these like to run up near max. I'm not looking to get maximum barrel life or I would have chosen a different chambering. Maximum accuracy at or around 3800fps is what I'm shooting for with the 75gr Vmax bullet.

I welcome any and all information. I would like to make the components I currently have work but if what I have simply won't do what I'm looking for, again, I welcome your ideas.

Thanks

6x284 loads

I'd like to help, but all my 6x284 loads are with H4831SC. I have a 12-twist barrel that shoots the 87-grain Hornady at 3600 FPS and the 75-grainers at 3800 to 3900 FPS. If you want the 4831 numbers, drop me a line.

Gary, yes that would be great if you wouldn't mind. At this point I'm not stuck on any particular bullet or powder just that I am limited by the 1-12.

I did some looking last night and I have quite a few 70gr & 80gr Balistic tips too.

Looking on reloaders nest I see where some are using 215's as well as 210's. I have both what do most of you with 6-284's use???

Also I read that these 6-284's like the bullets either at or into the lands. Is this true???

Thanks again for any and all help

I also have a few lbs of RL22 if that helps with any load data.

load data

56 grains of 4831 with an 87-grain V-Max gave half-inch groups at 200 and velocity was 3581 FPS.

All these charges listed here should be considered max in my rifle and should be worked up to in yours.

99.5 clicks on Harrell measure of RL19 and 75-grain V-Max gave half-inch groups and 3800 FPS.

87-grain V-Maxes with 56 grains of 4831 gave 1.397 group at 541 yards.

That's about all the help I can give you.

Eventually killed a prairie dog at 1,020 yards with the 87-grain V-Max.
