It's the reissue of the Rem 5mm Mag rimfire. Aguila has started manufacturing the ammo and CZ has stepped up to make firearms chambered in it. And there are still the old Rem 591s and 592s. I think I saw where Thompson had Contender barrels available for it as well. Not sure who else is going to chamber for it though.

Thanks for the information,the new cartridge will need to be very effective to outshine the 17HMR. I have a CZ in 17hmr and head shots on rabbits at 100yds are dead easy,doesent mangle them with chest shots either.

I have 22 LR, 22WMR, 17 HM2, and 17 HMR rifles . Per the web site www.aguilaammo.com the 30 Gr JHP has a MV of 2,300 ft/sec. The bullet has a ME of 352 f/lb and at 100 yards the bullet has 186 ft/lb of energy. If some company makes an accurate rifle and if a company will make some ammo like the old remington round with a 38 Gr HP bullet MV of 2100 ft/sec I may get a Rem 5 MM rimfire rifle. But I think that it will not be a better prairie dog shooting round than the 17 HMR.
