Wanting to change my 22hornet to a 5mm rem.mag.cntrfr. Anybody have the parameters on this cartridge? What was the parent cartridge? Can I adapt from the hornet? I didn't want to go to the 17's because of the limited bullet selection. The 5mm being a .20cal gives me a much wider selection of bullets and manufacturers.:)Stan share your sport

Why not go to a .20 K Hornet? You're going to need a new barrel anyway, and being a cheapskate I'd bet a .20 Hornet would be less expensive to put together and shoot. It'd also likely produce higher velocities than the 5mm CF which would give flatter trajectory.

From what I remember about the 5mm CF you'd likely need some changes to the bolt face and/or extractor which would add to the expense.

You might want to check again on bullet selection in .17 because there's an abundance. Essentially you are describing a .17CCM in that class which is a hell of a cartridge. 3200fps with 20grainers with 9 grains of powder, don't get funner than that.
