4200 vs monarch

I am having a 6.5 creedmoor built as i type this. This will be an f-class/1000 bench rifle. I am looking at different scopes to complete the rifle. A variable power seems to be the best bet for the f-class comps. I am looking at a Bushnell 4200 8-32x40 or a Nikon monarch 8-32x50. the Nikon is about $100 more than the Bushnell. I looked through a Bushnell 4200 8-32 scope a few weeks ago at a shoot and i was really impressed. I have also owned several monarch scopes and have never had any issues with them. I like the looks of the Nikon and the price of the 4200. What in your experienced opinion would make for a better scope. Neither scope comes with the reticule i would like but they will work. I can afford a nighforce. If i could this wouldnt be an issue for me. thanks Lee

Don't know what Bushell's warranty service is like, but Nikon's is superb and is lifetime for any owner. This is a fact based on my recent experience with sending in my Monarch for zero drift problems (which I had bought used at a local gun store).

The nightforce is the way to go. I have 2 elite 4200s and they are nice for what I use them for but if you are going to use it for 1000yd and f class you will NOT regret the nightforce. I have 3 of themand love each one.

I bought a Bushnell Elite 8-32x40 mm. I sent it back to Bushnell to have the Multi-X reticle changed to Mil-Dot. Cost me $50.00 and had it back at my front door 10 days after Bushnell received it also with an extra extension tube. The instruct you not to send the tube that came with the scope so the extra one will fit into the box.

I just bought a nib 4200 8-32x40 for 350 bucks. I hope to use this scope on my 6dasher for 600 yards shooting. Does anyone here have any experiece with the 4200 8-32x40 for long range benchrest shooting or for varmint for score, or even f-class. I am going to see if Bushnell can do a target dot reticule for me. I sure hope so!! Lee
