.300 Jarrett

I seen this today at the range and would have never believed it had I not seen it with my own eyes.

A guy and his 12 year old son show up to shoot and the guy busts out his new custom rifle. A .300 Jarret Windstalker(I think thats what he called it). We start talking and I am checking out his rifle and he hands it to me and its the lightest rifle I have probably ever held and the loaded rounds are huge.

I dont know exactly where this cartridge stands amongst the .300RUMs and .300 WSM and all the others but I have seen and heard much crying about recoil from the .300RUM crowd so the next part is crazy, to me anyway.

I hand it back and he gets ready to shoot and his youngster hops on the bench and shoulders the rifle and lets her go. I would have thought the recoil would have torn his 12 year old shoulder clean off!!! The barrel has a muzzlebreak machined right into it and it apparently works quite well because that kid shot it probably 10 times. I thought I was gonna go deaf on the bench next to it be he seemed to think it was quite fun.

I just cant figure out how a 5 pound cannon like that can be shot by a kid that is a virtual stick figure. I bet he weight 70 pounds max. I dont know, maybe I live in the dark but that sure was crazy to see and the kid was a good shot, mowing down clay pidgeons(in a litte target holder) at 100 yards almost every time.

Blew my mind!!!!

Take it easy guys.

Jaybic,
I believe it is a 8mm magx30cal improved. I believe that 7.5LB would be the very lightest that it could be built with a scope. A good muzzle break and light bullets make them very managable.
