30-223 remer

Bill, go to 6mmbr.com and ask the Savage guy if he has one. He has several hundred reamers for sale. If not, go to Dave Kiff.

30/221 vs 30/223

Just rember the 30/221 will work from a magazine on a AR-15 Platform. A 30/223 is too long. The 30/221 a/k/a 300whisper is very well thought out and developed. If for some unknown reason you wanted more horsepower then I would just go to a 308. Once you get past sub sonic loads the whole objective and purpose changes.

I have both a reamer or reamer specs if your interested. This is my own design, so I'm not sure if it's what your after. I called it the 300AR, 7.62x44 and also the 30 LCSO for the Lewis County Sheriff's Office

And, yes they work just fine in the AR15 platform providing you have the right setup in the mags.

Goshawk,

Is your reamer based on the drawing in your post? I've been looking for reamer dimensions for the 30-223 for a build I've got going. Could you PM the dimensions to me in a PDF?

30-223 Reamer

I used a 223 Ackley reamer ( dave kiff ) and a .308 throater. It worked good. For dies,I modified a Lee 223 ack.FL. to accept a 30 cal. bushing while bumping the shoulder back at the same time.... neat little cartridge.
I was inspired by Dave King ( King`s Armory ) from Texas shot next to him at the 2008 "F" class nats.... he used a 7-22 mag. for silhouette.Called it a 747, and did well with it....

That's pretty close to what I have in mind. I've got some 223 dies and brass to play with and I think your approach of a 223 reamer with a sleaved pilot and a .308 throater is probably the way I'll go. Thanks.
