2X Multiplier Adapter

Here is something I came up with to use a 2X Weaver adapter on a Leopold.

How much eye relief do you loose with the 2x lens multiplyer on the Leupold 36x??..........jackie

The 2X lens multiplier is the same one I used with my Weaver T36 on a 30BR HV. Yes you do have some loss of eye relief , but I could shoot it with no problems. I would think that you have the same amount of loss on the Leupold as you would on the Weaver. I will be at the range today and see how it works. I only made the adapter to hold the 2X multiplier on a Leupold. 08:10 Just check and the loss is about an inch on both scopes.

2X Multiplier Adapter

All,
Went to the range yesterday and used my adapter on my 30BR, it worked good, had no problems. Now I can use the same 2X multiplier on both my Weaver and Leupold.
"It's cool down here. Had the heat on for the last three days."

2x adapter

Ive tried 2 different ones outside 50 yds (rimfire) and inside 25 yds.
In good light conditions I was well satisfied ...poor light I did not like..
I'm 74 and have 20-20 vision ,,,if possible try in different conditions.

It's just a fact of optical design that if you multiply the power by two the surface brightness of the image will drop by a factor of four if the exit pupil diameter is already smaller than the diameter of the iris of your eye. The brand of scope or the magnifying device does not matter other than it could be even worse.

A 2X tele-extender on the front of the scope with an 80 mm objective (for a 40mm scope) or replacing the objective lens with one of twice the focal length and twice the diameter could retain the original image brightness. Nothing put on the eyepiece end can.
