Hi all

What freebore would you recommend for a 300 Weatherby, 300 RUM and 300 Norma using Berger's new 215 and 230 grain projectiles?

Would it suit 240 grain Matchkings?

TIA
Ben

.250" freebore or very close to it on my reamers set up for the 240 smk. It also works good on the 230 Berger.

Dave Kiff suggested 0.198" to suit all three projectiles - I guess the 215 Berger needs just a little less than the 0.250" you use for the 240 SMK and 230 Berger.

I like round numbers and would have gone 0.200", but I took his advice and ordered a 300 Norma Magnum finishing reamer from him with a 0.336" neck.

And go and no-go gauges.

And then a reamer for the 22-243 I've been meaning to build, with go and no-go gauges.

And die blanks for both chamberings.

May as well save on postage...

The new on-line PTG shop is good, but if you have a look at their specials you might find yourself owning a couple of wildcat reamers.

A 300 Ackley Improved for $45???

Get me some scissors so I can cut up my Mastercard!

I thought long and hard before going with the 300 Norma Magnum and 215, 230 and 240 grain projectiles.

It's 2.5" long with just over 100 gr of water capacity but it's hard to find much other information.

Norma lists the brass in their catalogue, but has no reloading data.

Regards
Ben

My 300 Norma reamer by PTG has .235" freebore. Its set-up for the 230 Berger. If you go much less than .235" the bullet will be rate in the donut area.

Could you please share any load info with me? It's seemingly impossible to find any published data.
