can I use 220 Russian to make 6mm ARC brass

Dan - thanks. I did not think of doing that. The body of the 220 Russian seems like it will blow out fine, but the web may be an issue. Hopefully not. I have a ton of Sako 220 Russian.

can I use 220 Russian to make 6mm ARC brass

I have 2 reamers on the way for a 6mm arc and a 22 arc. I shortened the free bore and will use short light bullets to shoot prairie dogs with from an AR platform. Doing this in the hopes of better accuracy and some speed increase over a 223. IMO, that is what this is good for. Don't really care...

Advice on purchasing equipment and tooling

I have built a 16 by 40 shop deep in the woods of South Mississippi. Have plenty of 220 single phase. I am interested in, among other things, learning to barrel my own rifles. The smith who I have used for years is 84 years old now and getting even crankier. I have no machining experience at...

Rifle Accuracy Systems tuner / muzzle brake experience

Ouch From Jackie: "I guess my question would be how you get a custom barreled/custom action/custom stocked 22-250 to shoot that bad to begin with.?" It was easy. I have been able to produce far worse groups as well with only slightly more effort. :)

Rifle Accuracy Systems tuner / muzzle brake experience

Just to set bonafides, I am a retired benchrest competitor. I know something about rifles, shooting and reloading. Yes. At 200 yards. Shot over wind flags on a calm day. I was literally amazed that it had that much impact. I was extremely skeptical about them until I tried it. Thought they...

Rifle Accuracy Systems tuner / muzzle brake experience

This will sound like an ad, but I had a really positive experience. I've read a lot about tuners on rifles improving group size and making it easier to tune load and have been curious (skeptical) about that. I read about the Rifle Accuracy Systems tuner & muzzle brake combo. I build heavy...

Precision loading with a Dillon 550

reloading nwith a dillon I reload for prairie dogs using a dillon 650. I dont shoot bechrest anymore - none here. 6MMBR, 22-250 and 6x47 lapua Dillon makes a powder drop die that is basically a funnel. I use 2 RCBS green machines to throw the powder (so I am not waiting on a machine), drop...

Twist rates why choose one over another

Faster twist for a varmint barrel My two cents on the faster twist for a varmint barrel is that you have more RPMs. When the bullet hits the varmint you have a more explosive effect. I shoot 12 twist for lighter bullets and eight twist for heavier bullets The eight twist definitely makes a...

    thoughts on 8208 xbr?

6br and 6x47 lapua I use 8208 xbr in my 6br 12 tw with 65 gr hornady vmax and in a 6x47 lapua 8 tw with an 80gr sierra varminter. Works really well for those cartridges. I find it similar to Varget and N135

The Haircut THE HAIRCUT Blessed are those that can give without remembering, and take without forgetting. One day a florist went to a barber for a haircut. After the cut, he asked about his bill, and the barber replied, 'I cannot accept money from you, I'm doing community service this week.'...

    Flat shooting varment calibre

204 and the wind If his average shots are 200 yards, no more than 400 yards at something the size of a fox, he is okay with a 204. If he was shooting a 17 and was happy with that, a 204 should be fine for him as well. I do not care for them as I always end up shooting far and with wind. I...

Barrel Diameter Question vs Action Size

I have a number of 1.25 and one 1.45 barrelled rifles on Bat's. I have used laminated tracker stocks, f class master stocks, fiberglass tracker stocks. Just FYI, Bill Shehane can weight a fiberglass tracker stock and when you get it it will be 14 pounds. With a 8.5 inch Bat and a 30 inch 1.25...
