    Let's talk about bullets

If the stem touches closer to the tip than touching where the ogive touches the lands, wouldn't it give better alignment, reducing runout?

    jackets cleaning

Hi Sir Antelopedundee Other than slower evaporation rate, could it create any other problems? Would it be convenient to look for a faster evaporating solvent, in your opinion? I'm from outside the US, and in my country both acetone and MEK are controlled ,while hexane is not. ***I don't...

    jackets cleaning

Hi guys I intend to wash a batch of jackets to eliminate oil residues present. However, pure acetone and MEK are controlled products and difficult to obtain. What other solvents could be used? Would hexane be a good alternative? It evaporates quickly and is not miscible in water. Thanks

TrxR For 224 "projectiles, I purchased Mr. Larry Blackmon's dies. Using J4 jackets, I produced 52 grains flat base bullets that grouped as good or better than Berger and custom on my 223 Borden rifle

Core squirt die - squirt holes position

wax If this question is way off topic, let me know, I will delete....no hurts What can I do to keep the bullets shiny after they are pointed, degreased and polished on the rotary thumbler? I wish they had the same shine as the Bergers. It is even noticed that the Berger require less...

Core squirt die - squirt holes position

About the consistent core cutted weight. I tried to cut the cores longer than needed, form then heavier and do another pass in the core forming die to final weight, , so to achieve more consistent weight. A two steps core forming I didn't notice any improvement in weight uniformity...

Core squirt die - squirt holes position

Oliveoil, sorry for hijacking your thread. Randy and others... Could an excess of lube cause the bullet to stick to the BT punch instead of being removed by the ejector pin?

Core squirt die - squirt holes position

Thanks Randy So, therefore, if I separate the cores by weight, using an ADI scale, and seat the heavies cores in the lighter jackets, is a waste o f time? My cores vary in weight from 108,00 grains to 108,44 grains.(extreme, most are in the middle) I tried fast lowering the handle,slow...

Cores So, in the 110 grains cores,(for 308 bullets) what wil be considered a acceptable variance in weight? will a harder alloy allow more consistent weight or the opposite? What is the rules for consistent weight?

    Good day at the Range

lead core Since we are talking about bullet making, I have a question( a lot, to be honest..) Will a to hard lead alloy prevent the core to fullfill the core forming die completely? I ask because this is the situation with my last lead lot, who seems harder and more silver colored than...

    Berger 115?

I always had good results with Berger 108 BT But with a new batch of Berger, I was having a harder time having good groups. So I borrowed a box of 500 units of Bib 108 grains (I believe it's an older lot). Already in the first tests, just changing the jump, I got groups of 3 shots smaller than...
