    FAIRCHANCE NATIONALS BEGINS 2024

Wish I could have made it this year, it was such a great experience last year! That picture of the sporter conditions reminds me of last year- when the ever helpful Tony told me to "hold out at the 5 ring" and it worked! Tough range but what a great challenge- I learned a ton and am trying to...

    Garmin Xero® C1 Pro Chronograph

I like that I don't have to connect to the phone when I use it. One less distraction. I can just connect when I get home and all the data is still there and transfers to the phone app easily.

    Pointers For New Sporter Shooter?

For me, the rear bag becomes much more critical due to the light weight gun. Insuring your rifle is tracking true and returns to the same spot (through scope) after each shot is key. I run my gun back and forth in the bag (which has to be filled correctly!) a number of times until it settles in...

    Sub ounce trigger pull measurement

Ended up getting this one on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0791BYF4H?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details It has the second needle to register max pull and seems to work very well. Very consistent reads with my 3 B&A triggers. Dropped them from 30 to 10g, will see how they feel at the...

    Sub ounce trigger pull measurement

Great thread! I had already found my digital scale not responding as my pull got lighter and this will be very helpful in getting those last grams out! Stuart

    IR 50/50 Sporters

That's a great idea Keith! And with my new variable power scope I can zoom in a bit more for the 10.5 and 13.5 classes ;)

IR 50/50 NATIONALS FAIRCHANCE RANGE AUGUST 4,5, AND 6. 2023

Echoing Keith's words above thank you all for a great experience, and all the shooters that made me feel so welcome at my first nationals match. I was happy to find everyone sharing techniques, equipment details and answering my unending list of questions. I learned a ton. Great bunch of people...

Turning down diameter of an already lapped barrel

I probably wasn't clear in my original rambling... My current 2500x gun with .900 barrel and scope is weighing in at 12.25lb. I was going to replace the barrel, use my lighter 36x scope, and trim the stock to get closer to 10.5. With the stock I just ordered from John I can leave everything as...

Turning down diameter of an already lapped barrel

Thanks Keith, I was able to get in touch with John and hope to purchase one of his stocks. Great that I get to keep my barreled action and scope as well! PedroS great tip on the excel doc for all my parts and weights- I have set one up and can't believe it never occurred to me before! Stuart

Turning down diameter of an already lapped barrel

Thanks for helping me reset my thinking on this guys... I got stuck on trying to use the Lidgard stock and make everything else work around it (It is a beautiful piece of wood!)... Clearly I need to start with a lighter stock so will look for that now. Stuart

Turning down diameter of an already lapped barrel

Thanks Tony, that is helpful. I currently have a 3.2lb Lidgard stock and figure I can trim out 6 ounces or so under the barrel. Or just start with a new lighter stock. Using the barrel charts with the stock mods and a lighter scope I could make weight with an .850" barrel cut down to 22". So...

Turning down diameter of an already lapped barrel

Hello all, I have read through many searched posts on the subject, and read the "art of rimfire" so understand the concept that further turning down a barrel after lapping will open up the bore to some degree. I am trying to reduce weight on my rifle (2500x action with .900" Shilen ratchet...

    12L14 Holee Kowww

Watch out for the Rust though! Hey guys, I work with a lot of 12L14 and other alloys in my shop and love how easy it is to machine as well. BUT, do be sure to finish the surfaces afterward. It will rust over very quickly with any moisture/humidity. I find a cold blue treatment keeps the rust at...
