    EC Tuners

I just ordered an EC tuner over the weekend for my Bergara B14R. Once I receive it and have the opportunity to test it, I'll report back.

    22 cleaning

Every gun is a law unto itself and cleaning will depend upon how the gun shoots clean or dirty. Many shooters won't clean a .22 rimfire rifle bore for hundreds of shots or until the accuracy begins to fall off. Other swear by cleaning after every session. They go by how THEIR rifle shoots best...

    Check this out

That is some seriously NICE gear. The competition looks to be tough as well. Excellent video.

First shot from a clean bore

Quite normal. Also normal for first shot from a dirty cold bore. If you're ever lucky enough to own a rifle that will put 2nd and subsequent shots into the same POI as your first shot, NEVER allow it to get away... assuming it's accurate. I have a BRNO #1 rifle like that and it will be mine...

A Bad Day at the Shooting Clinic

That wouldn't be a bad target at 100 yards but at 200 yards? That's 1/4 MOA shooting; EXCELLENT!

    Powder shortage

Unless it absolutely positively HAS to be H-4350, IMR-4350 IS available.

Apologies if I misunderstood. We're not a rich bunch but we have fun. :)

    Bullet Runout

Without knowing ANY facts beyond the fee we charge for our club BR match, you conclude that we're harming attendance at registered matches. I'll bet your head will explode when I tell you that our rimfire BR match fee is only $5. ;) Seriously, two, sometimes three, of our members DO compete in...

    Bullet Runout

I was considering a C-C of 1.1" which I think would work although there would be many nibbles of the 10 ring. Of course when variables such as the wind - and our range is windy - then a C-C of 1.1" wouldn't be my choice by any means. My Sabatti .308 will do 1/2 inch groups and under. We do...

    Bullet Runout

True. If you add .300" to each side of the .500" 10 ring, theoretically 1.1 MOA accuracy would do that with a .308. But, the X-count would be low. The last match I shot, the fellow next to me won with a 250-22X. He uses a 30BR rifle. At least three of our shooters score a 250 often so the...

    Bullet Runout

Not to any great extent but I have done some testing. I segregate my cartridges according to bullet runout into three groups: <.0025", .0025-.004 and >.004. I have seen a minor difference in groups shot with each set. My goal is, of course, the smallest groups possible but in order to stay in...

Thanks. I listed the rifles in the reply above yours. We both posted at the same time.

The Redding S die is a bushing die but does have two decapping pin collars; one is a button and the other is smaller. I have the button in at the moment.

    Bullet Runout

I'd like to control bullet runout on my .223 hand loads to less than .0025". I use the following equipment: Rock Chucker press, Redding S-Die FL sizer and a Redding micrometer seating die. I also have a Forster outside neck turner that I use to keep neck wall thickness at .012". I use cases with...

    Hand Priming Tools - 2017

I've used the RCBS hand priming tools that utilize standard shell holders and a tray. They work well IMO. I tried an RCBS universal tray priming tool but didn't much care for it so I gave it to my son who needed a priming tool.

what .22lr rifle ammo do winning benchrest shooters use at 100 yards?

Agreed that conditions change and different cartridges may be needed. If you find a lot that shoots great in cold weather, why not buy as much of it as you can? It won't go bad if stored properly and cold weather will be return. For warm/hot weather you can repeat the tests and buy a different...

what .22lr rifle ammo do winning benchrest shooters use at 100 yards?

A 25mm 10 ring at 100 meters? That's a tough target, wind or no wind. You shot a really nice target. I'd surely be proud of it. Walker

what .22lr rifle ammo do winning benchrest shooters use at 100 yards?

Ken, I think we're of one mind on that. Testing, IMO, is critical for best results. Each rifle is a law unto itself as I'm sure you know. Best Regards, Walker

what .22lr rifle ammo do winning benchrest shooters use at 100 yards?

Trying a box by lot numbers is good advice IMO. As far back as the 1920's, competitive shooters suggested buying a box of each cartridge that a person could find and test their rifle with them. When they found a lot that their rifle liked, they were advised to buy as much of that lot as...
