I am going to build a scope checker. Working with hunting rifles and hunting scopes. Would a Bausch & lomb balvar 8 make a good scope to use as a fixed reticle scope to test against.? If not what would you recommend and how would I go about having a reticle frozen if that is the only option...

I ran my borescope down the bore and counted 1 and 1/3 revolutions in what I can best tell is 23 inches of rifling. That comes to 15.3 twist approximately. Really slow.

The 55gr gameking. Spitzer boat tail.

222 ,bofers steel barrel. Tight patch test says it's a 15 and 1/2 twist. Shooting 55gr sierra bullets. Could I be on the edge of stability with this combination?

Donut would be my guess. Might inside neck ream or I think there is a way to move the extra brass to the outside and turn it off. Hopefully Someone more experienced than me will address this.

I would think it would if you could see it in full light. Accurate shooter. Com would be a good place to ask.

I don't know what remington is doing at the moment as far as 700 receivers. They were selling rr series 700 receivers. I read remington is now making a so called improved receiver. Model number of it? I don't know. You probably know more about it than I do.

It was a new remington 700 338 rum. E series. I've had quite a few 700s since 1967 and this particular rifle just happened to be by far the worst I've seen. Also it is a left hand action and I have been told remington had some problems with some of the left hand receivers.

Al you can look at the receiver from above and see they run off to the left and also I put a front and rear base screw in and held a steel straight edge on the screws to check the alignment.

I have a remington 700 in 338 ultramag. Receiver trued, kreiger barrel shoots great. The base mounting holes in the receiver are drilled so far off to the left that the rifles poi is 53 inches to the right at 100 yards with a mechanically centered scope. The holes have already been opened to...
