Can use help or direction ...

Lots of great information on this site but it is viewed/used by mostly short range benchrest shooters. Go take a look over at: http://www.accurateshooter.com/ Lots more shooters on that site and they maybe able to give advice on your specific questions. Good Shooting Rich

    Benchrest Stock

It doesn't have a "flat" like the Shehane stocks. It is rounded but the curve does flatten out a bit right at the bottom. A rear bag with 3/8" spacing supports the stock well. Good Shooting. Rich

Free recoil vs a hard or medium hold?

OP Come to Kenmore WA this Saturday for a 200/300yd shoot. Arrive by 0830. Informal match and has factory and BR guns. You will see various shooting styles, can ask questions, and meet some very skilled shooters. Bring one of the rifles you have with 60-70 rounds loaded (40 for score, rest...

Recently retired and looking to get into the benchrest game

Keith Recommend you find some local BR matches in your area (short, mid, long range) and attend a couple. Ask questions and go after what interests you the most. You may be limited on the type/style of shooting in your area. Equipment and rules differ based on distance and governing...

    30 BR shooting style

Jefferson New to 30BR shooting and certainly not a winner but am learning how to shoot my particular HV BAT MB TM stock. It loves free recoil but I don't. Light hold induces flyers. Firm hold with no cheek contact works best for me. Good shooting. Rich

BAT Action for LV 6PPC Build Advice Needed

Looking for some advice on which BAT action to order for a LV 6PPC. I will use one of Tom Meredith's stocks. I have a few BAT actions and am very pleased with them (HV 30BR and 6 Dasher) and want to use one for a LV gun. I've read through many match report equipment lists and only see...

New to benchrest shooting. Looking for suggestions on a factory rifle

I own an LRP 260 and it is a fine rifle for the price. It will hold 10 shots in 3.5"-4.5" at 600yds. With that said it is not a benchrest rifle. The LRP will fit your stated goals but I would recommend you get a chance to shoot the rifle prior to purchase and to watch the current owner...

Digital Powder Scale for Field Reloading

devcam I went through the same search as you a year or so ago. My solution was to buy a few hundred small glass vials with screw on caps and preload powder weight charges at home using my FX120I scale. Once loaded I place the vials in plastic 25 rd shotgun cartridge containers and use a...

    I can't call my shots with M1A

Both Dusty and Paul are right with the various points they make. If your rifle hasn't been "accurized" by someone who knows the demands and quirks of M14/M1As then it will likely be a 1.5 MOA gun a best. Good on you making your own stock. Did you do the bedding as well? The article below...

    Rail gun/barrel block

I'm not a rail gun owner or shooter but find them interesting and will likely own one once I am retired and have more time for shooting. Wouldn't adjusting the block's torque be part of the tuning process. If too much/little torque is used the target should provide the answers you seek? Jet
