    Rifle match of the year!!!!

Same thing confused me Tony. But a top 5 shooter ought not to be hard to find. There are at least 50 of them. Depends on where you look.

    Wilbur - Question

Wilbur, I purchased an ad through PayPal on 9/3/2013 for $8 and it was paid through PayPal. There was also a related charge to BR Central to my credit card for $97.01 and I don't know what you have to sell except ads. Did I miss something?

Anyone tried melonite treated barrels in RF?

Charles, I am currently somewhat fascinated with melonite processing, and I've thought about barrels. This is what my non-engineering mind sees as potential problems. There appears to be a growth in dimension of about 0.0005" in dimension, which would mean 0.001" tighter bore. Is that a...

My problem with the "parallel node"

Well, IF he's wrong and others cannot make a determination for themselves, sorry about their stupidity. What if all this crap you spout is wrong and you bring harm to others. Guess you never thought about that, 'cause YOU couldn't be wrong. Whatever he does, whether it's technical or doing a...

My problem with the "parallel node"

Lost another point so bash Calfee a little to get attention off yourself. Who makes the best car? You know the one that makes all its own parts now, nobody else.

My problem with the "parallel node"

Sure, because when you don't cherry pick the numbers, it tells a different story. You used average, when you should use medians but you probably don't know any better, so we'll go with averages. Calfee guns numbered 16, averaged 35th place, had 20% of the top 10, 25% of the top 20, and 22.5%...

    rear view mirror

I looked in my mirror and I seen somthing coming. I thought it was a plane by the way it was running. When it passed us I had nothing to say, and the guy with the Anschutz didn't even see. It was just marty with a hopped up CMP. We'll keep watching for you Marty, you may catch up. I...

    rear view mirror

You pretty much have to look through the rear view mirror to see what's behind you. We know you're back there, just wondering if you'll ever catch up.

Shooting at regular intervals, its importance and the needed tools.

It doesn't matter in rimfire; it might in centerfire. The best target I ever shot was less than three minutes. 25 shots on an ARA target and it was just a hair short of a 2500. I've shot several 2400 and 2450's in very short times. It's just the condition. Usually, if a shooter seems to...

My problem with the "parallel node"

Well, you might as well. As long as you're doing what you're doing, your goose is already cooked anyway. Have fun.

My problem with the "parallel node"

Marty, Let's say you develop or improve a product designed to lend more power and speed to a race car. Now with your current methods, you would throw it in a Chevette, get on the track with real race care drivers with real race cars and take off. Then after you were sucked into the...

My problem with the "parallel node"

Marty, I'm not comparing you to anybody else. As far as I know, except for the people building and experimenting with new type tuners there is nobody else who is currently experimenting with tuners with the enthusiasm you show. However, scores tell the story, and yours do not indicate that...

My problem with the "parallel node"

Marty, The barrel on the gun I shoot the most (I have more than one) is just a little under 24". Maybe 1/8" under. The diameter is .900 except that it has been turned down slightly at the front and back. You can read that in the book under "A Rifle's Tale" to determine the reason. I have...

My problem with the "parallel node"

Marty, I recall having the 1047 speed ammo at the state shoot but I don't recall shooting it unless I it was just trying it. I may have, just don't remember. The best I recall, I shot 1324 @ 1061 fps; however, I do know I never said the rifle was tuned for 1061 fps. It was tuned with three...

My problem with the "parallel node"

Yes, it is because they always consider the launch angle to be zero. It's not, at least in this case. If it is zero the only place the two bullets will cross paths will be at the muzzle. The slower bullet on a standard rest will be launched at a steeper angle than the faster one. They will...

My problem with the "parallel node"

Marty, have you ever shot in the Barn? No. Well, I have. You seem to be under the impression that the only variable is the tune of the rifle. Well, making that assumption is what would get you beat badly, and I mean badly. The barn has heavy plastic sides. It is also generally heated close...

My problem with the "parallel node"

Okay, I'm not the stopped muzzle expert. As I've said, I do what works for me. I've tried many methods that do not work for me, if one did I would use it. Anyway, the idea is the elevation of the muzzle in this case is caused by the angle of the rest. In general, if you pull your rifle back...

My problem with the "parallel node"

Yes, but the slower bullet will print higher than the faster bullet at 50 yards (we're assuming standard rest angles). At some distance , if the bullets are not stopped, the slower bullet will print lower on the target. Of course, we're considering only intersection of paths and not time.

My problem with the "parallel node"

If the gun tracks straight back, you can't. That's kinda obvious. However, most don't. Most track back in a manner that causes the muzzle to rise. Now, you understand you're not putting the bullet in the same hole at 50, 100, 150 yards, etc. You're only intersecting at approx 42 yards and...

My problem with the "parallel node"

So, Roosevelt, Churchill, Stalin, and Hitler had they never been born would not have mattered. Everything would have played out exactly the same, maybe better, to think otherwise would be ludicrous. Seems like a sound theory to me if you believe everything is pre-destined. Wait though, is...
