    6X47 Lapua Question

Just to answer some of the above question. The reason I switched bore diameters is simply it was the only barrel I could find without going on a waiting list. The gun is a tactical rifle so I shoot it at various ranges. Tuning was done at 1000 yds. I just used the 100 yd group size just to show...

    6X47 Lapua Question

All, Just bought me a Bartlein 1:8 twist .237 bore dia. X .243 4 groove barrel. My current barrel is a Kreiger 1:8 twist .236 bore dia. X .243 4 groove that HAS shot in the mid .100's @ 100yds. (Getting up there in rounds now.) My question is..............am I gonna see any difference in...

    1:12 vs. 1:14 twist .22 PPC

Thanks Pat, Just the type of info I'm looking for. We're not BR competitors out here in Utah where I'm from but, I'd like to be able to at least duplicate the accuracy of the 6 PPC's he already has. It definitely sounds do-able. Thanks for the reply!! MED.

    1:12 vs. 1:14 twist .22 PPC

Thanks Al, Sorry so long...........Star Wars Marathon (Geek). I think I will continue with my build. What bullet range do you recommend with the 12 twist? My buddy has a couple of 2nd hand 6 PPC's that he expects the same accuracy of. (.200 - .300 groups) I'm definitely not a Smith of BR...

    1:12 vs. 1:14 twist .22 PPC

First off.............not a BR shooter. I have a buddy of mine that has a 1:12 barrel and wants to build a .22 PPC. Will this give acceptable accuracy, or is 1:14 or any other twist more preferable for a 100-200 yard gun? (Again not BR shooters). Any opinions are welcome, just need some info for...

    Cold blue for a barrel

COLD BLUE SUCKS IN ALL FORMS!! I've used it all..........hot blue is the only alternative? It sucks too!! I dread the day i have to fire that P.O.S up. I don't have the room in my shop to leave it set up year round though. Nasty stuff none-the-less!!? MED

    GM Top Engine Cleaner

I made the post from an iPhone. It's the first time I've done so, and was extremely simple, easier than from a computer. I just used the reply button and then the picture icon at the top and it brought up my camera to take the photo, then upload. Med.

    22-250 ackly imp

Just did one with a new 8 twist barrel; shooting heavy bullets (80 gr.(obviously) Don't expect more than 400 - 500 rds. of "accurate"barrel life in my experience. I wouldn't waste a 14 twist barrel just to "go fast" IMO. Med.

Remington 700 Small Bolt Face Extractor

Hi all, I'm having trouble finding a Remington small bolt face extractor for a .17 Fireball. Everything I've found is backordered. If anyone has a supplier that I'm not aware of or has one to sale, please let me know. I've tried all of the big ones i.e. Midway, Brownell's, Numrich etc...

    AR-15 Barrel Question

Thanks again to you all! I got the specs I needed (thanks Mike), plus I got a lot of information I didn't expect to get that will help me after my project is done. I know this project may be a less than ideal platform since the barrel is a factory Remington 22-250 barrel, but I thought what...

    Lathe progress

Lee, Looks good to me man. I don't do thread relief's though, but what the hell do I know, I'm a newbie too, just drag that bit out fast. Dig in, you'll be fine. Nice work!! Med.

    Remington 721 bolt modification

Inferno, I recently had the same problem (sorry 'bout your luck). The REM. 700 riveted extractor WILL NOT work because there is not enough relief in the bolt nose behind the actual "tang" (for lack of a better word) to allow the extractor to slip over the case rim during chambering. I took...

    AR-15 Barrel Question

Thanks for all the replies, I really appreciate them!! I have the upper, gas block, barrel extension & gas tube but, the latter of the four is for a short length 16" barrel (i.e. 9.75 carbine length gas tube). I guess my question is; will this same configuration work with a 1:14 twist 24"...

    AR-15 Barrel Question

Mike, Sorry, I didn't even think about doing a search. I am rather naive to AR configurations, I'm sorry, but can you either tell me how far down the barrel you drill the gas port from either the face of the barrel extension and/or the barrel face? Or, if you know the distance down the tube...

    AR-15 Barrel Question

KG, Thanks for the reply, I live in Utah, and prairie dogs are the prime target for me. I was planning on shooting 50 gr. VMAX's or 52gr. AMAX's for a little added velocity. I just want to try my luck at something different than a bolt gun. I'm a bit of a beginner and want to learn some more...
