To shorten I'm no expert but, if the barrel is choked, you definitely do not want to cut it off at the muzzle! It sounds to me like your problem is either bedding (stock) or your set up, maybe not as stable as it could be. What happens if you fire the rifle with minimal contact?

Leupold repair It's true that Leupold won't repair a Premire modified scope, but they will replace it under warranty. Last year I got a new 6.5-20 to replace a damaged one that Premire had installed a new reticle.

Leupold I dropped the scope on a concrete floor. It seemed to be erratic, so I wanted it checked. I don't know if they tested it, but I don't think they did. The only thing I'm losing is the 3 dot reticle which was for hunting, but that ended sometime ago.
