Dave, that's like the Calfee shooters saying they are all shooting the "Duke of Earl". The Un-Calfee is not a generic term for a non-Calfee built gun. That official term is, I believe, "Turd". No, "The Un-Calfee" is the official name of my specific rifle, the world famous "The Un-Calfee"...

Newsflash!! Some of us have a very competitive nature. When poked, don't be surprised if we poke back. If I didn't have one of my matches on the same date, I would be in Maine for the State Championships too. You all feel free to attend the State Championships in Easthampton MA or Salem NY.

Pete Wass said, >>"That said, I still place little emphasis on Actions, from what I have seen. When I was a kid, I use to get a new fishing rod every Spring. I thought a new rod and reel would enable me to catch more fish. I think the same mentality exists in the firearms game. I have seen...

    Newbie Needs Help

I would start with a used custom built on a true benchrest quality action. The Coopers are decent, but they just are not a benchrest quality action (same for the CZ). That's not to say some can't be made to shoot well, but they have no closing cam on the action and poor surface area in the...

I have a Cooper 57M Classic, damn fine rifle for what it is. I used to shoot it in local BR matches back in the day and it was great for giving me the bug and I won with it from time to time. As an action, it has some flaws. The biggest being that it has no closing cam. The two little ones...

Agreed, but apparently there are some that buy into the "perfect" this and "ultimate" that nonsense. They either shoot or they don't. That's all there is to it. If our rifles and ammo perform predictably, then the misses are the shooter's fault.

Just want to say thank you to Rachael who has been on top of inputting the scores this season. I just sent in the Wawarsing results on Sunday morning (yesterday) and they are already posted, and on a holiday weekend no less. Rachel, thanks for your efforts, they are noted and appreciated.

Wawarsing Rod and Gun Club 5/24 Results

It was a rare "equipment day" here in SE NY. While one had to watch for a few slight breezes and some periods of mirage, it was pretty much as good as it gets here. The Un-Calfee and Merlin (Spec 4) even look alike. Both have black/white swirl angled butt stocks. I have to say tho that the...

The answer would be - none. In fact, there has not been one protest in any of the matches I've attended to date, by anyone. Amazing!!! Actually, it's pretty typical.

We had 9 shooters show up for the 3 gun and UL. Conditions were mostly cloudy, light winds to calm in the morning, periods of heavy rain in the afternoon with mostly light winds. I want to thank everyone that showed up and a big thanks to Gordon Eck for providing lunch today (meatballs and...

Wawarsing Rod and Gun Match Sat. 5/24

Yup, hated that Jack Daniel's Single Barrel. Put back the RC Muller barrel on the sporter and it really responded. Retooled and ready to go for tomorrow. The World Famous Un-Calfee is just humming. The sky should be overcast tomorrow and the winds light. We should have good scores. Tasted...

The deal with the detour is that the bridge on Rt55 before the club (coming from Rt 209) is being repaired. If you are coming from...

    Salem ?

Salem was a tough match. It was lots windier than predicted and very switchy. Bob Griffin shot a nice sporter score (249 -?), I won the 10.5 with a 249-13X, can't remember who won the 13.5 (sorry). I think Bob took the 3 gun. In the UL Pete Roberson was the man winning one target and...
