Mac McMillians' LV .009 World Record Is Under Assualt

Benchrest is about unequivocal proof of the five/ten shot group.........which is why we have the moving backer system. How many groups on target look like one hole and only show 1, 2 or maybe 3 bullet marks. If we didn't have the moving backer would our groups mean any more than the reports of...

    Bartlein gain twist barrels-what twist?

Phill I can't answer your other question but sure hope someone can answer the bit I highlighted in your post...........why are stocks, actions, barrels, bullets, Farley rests etc so hard to come by if the number of Benchrest shooters is declining??.......Ian

    Farley coax rest

Are Farley's still making the coax front rest, I've emailed them several times over the last 3 months and have not received a reply. I'd like to buy a right hand one for my wife and I can only think of a couple of reasons Farley's wouldn't want to sell one and that is either they aren't making...

Charles your seating die might be easier to find than some 4198 to buy.........I hear there is a shortage of reloading supplies in the US:D:D.....I see a 8lbjug of H4198 sold for over $700 on Gunbroker.........Ian

    3 jaw chuck runout?

Lee buy yourself a good "Strong" brand 3 jaw chuck.........mine has less than 0.001" runout. When I got it I put a piece of 1" tool steel in the jaws and mounted the chuck on the spindle in the six different positions.......one position had less runout than the others, I also tightened the jaws...

Andy by the time the new VV importer gets the shipping sorted there might not be any VV to import since the factory is shutting down.......Ian

    Interesting local 'primer story'.

Al that's good to know but all the suppliers/importers here say that they aren't receiving everything they order, some retailers have started rationing primer sales.......I'm lucky I don't need to buy a lot to keep shooting, which leaves more for those that need them.........Ian

    Interesting local 'primer story'.

Andy I'm told there is one importation of powder into Aussie each year so I imagine that the suppliers import quite a bit each time which would explain why the stock is still plentiful at the moment. But what happens when they do there next stock order and it can't be filled because the US...

vfd on the big grizzly gun lathe?

Lee I think you will find your two speed spindle motor is 4hp on high speed and 3 hp on low speed, this would be no trouble to run from a single vfd. If you ran the spindle motor on low speed you could use a 3hp vfd (as long as you don't switch the motor to high speed). If you wanted to run the...

    The new Sporter agenda item

aka Hunter, you're interpretation of the first sentence assumes that recoil is not just rearward momentum of the rifle after being fired. Now the definition of recoil is (according to this website http://www.thefreedictionary.com/recoil) re·coil (r-koil) intr.v. re·coiled, re·coil·ing...

When traveling Internationally with a firearm

Just to let everyone know, due to public pressure Air New Zealand have revoked the "firearms handling fee" I'd like to thank everyone who made the effort to contact Air New Zealand about the firearms handling tax, it took every ones effort to achieve the outcome we got. Also Air New Zealand...

    Looking for a VFD

oldpup223 if you are going to run a 3ph 5hp motor from single phase find out what the VFD manufacturer recommends, most VFD manufacturers only make single phase input VFD's up to 3hp, any bigger than that and they are usually 3 phase input.. I'm using a 10hp Hitachi WJ200 VFD to power a 5hp...

    Case Neck Turner

The pumpkin is one of the best neck turners I've used, very easy to adjust, repeatable and easy to hold. Like someone said the easiest neck turner is getting someone else to turn them...........only problem with that is that when you have less than 5 shots into 0.074" your condition goes away...

When traveling Internationally with a firearm

Well if anyone is planning a trip overseas with a firearm or knows someone traveling to NZ with a firearm I would not recommend travelling with Air New Zealand. The reason is they have introduced a charge for travelling with firearms From NZ to Aussie it is NZ$120 plus a return charge AU$120...

Could there possibly BE a worse response???

Since I don't live in the US I have often wondered why these shootings happen, is it the media attention given to these senseless crimes or ??? Laws are only there for the law abiding to follow, criminals or people with criminal intention never will follow the existing law and certainly won't...
