    Miller Single Set Trigger

Dan May, If you have a good product, a market will find you. Many fine rifles made on Mauser actions. Now if someone produced a good trigger for a Savage, There is a market with cash in hand

    Am I gettin' Senile?

Shinny, Brass cut at a true .0093 will never thicken to .0095 or .0096. Somewhere the turning tool has changed. Back when turning necks became a standard thing, I made most of my own neck turners out of aluminum. They work but there are things that need to be...

    6mmbrx annealing problem

I use an old gear driven apparatus that turns about 45 rpm. It has a stainless steel bowl and an aluminum pedistol with a stepped recess which will center and hold 3 different head sizes. The bowl will hold about 1 1/2 pints of water.Focusing a propane torch on the shoulder and watching the blue...

    Lighter fluid substitute

on my ugliest gun, I would not dump lighter fluid or anything for that matter down thru the action while in the stock. Whether pull pins or trigger hanger, triggers are easily removeable unless you have 4 thumbs. The blast effect of a spray can with small tube installed works like a charm to...

    Tight shell in RCBS press

Using some simple math, the expansion line is approx .300 above the case head, given a .243 case. This hardly shows case head expansion , whereby the brushed finish left by the die would be much closer to the case head. just my opinion

    Tight shell in RCBS press

Silicone grease is generally not an extreme pressure lube. There are case lubes that are made for the purpose and there can be quite a difference. I am very fond of imperial die wax, but will tell you this can get mighty thin and loose some properties in hot weather. For Heavy sizing use...

    Weight sorted brass and ES

It would be grand if weighing brass was that simple. Some years ago when I tested things like that, I had on hand a new box of Lapua ppc cases. Nearly 20 % was 2 plus grains higher than the rest. Checking the extractor grooves with a blade micrometer, it was clear something changed in a...

    Prieming Tool

I have both the sinclair and K&m, actually a couple of each. The K&M is really hard to beat, as its just about indestructable and has very good feel. The Sinclair has slightly better feel, but is more than twice the price. I have used both kinds daily for years and don't think I'll wear one out...

    6x47 ?

I would doub't that a 6 x 47 will ever shine as the average 6BR does. You will need dies and barrel, the only issue is bolt face and thats not a big issue. Open bolt face and install 308 extractor

    6x47 ?

FWIW. In my experience, some of the push feed winchesters are very crooked. If your firing pin dents are pretty far off center, it could indicate that. Just food for thought.

    Neck expanding lubricant

I hate cleaning necks out as well. I just fireform with the lube , since they need in most cases, two firings to be dependable. By then the lube is gone

A lighter trigger for Sako Vixen. How to alter or replace?

I also have a vixen about that vintage. Its a very sweet rifle in 223. has shot many groups in the two's. The trigger has a verticle sliding sear which is supported by a spring. That spring also also is the trigger tension spring. Simply replacing it with a lighter one will improve things. Both...

cleaning the throat in your barrel??

After brushing with my diluted mix of iosso, I follow with a few wet and then dry patches of Butches or GM TEC. More often than not, ist shot is in the group. Second shot is always there.

depending on how you form your cases, there can be a significant difference in length. That alone can cause pressure problems.

Vibration Experiment of a Tuned Barrel

Having followed all that I can find on barrel vibrations and seeing the results of tuners in use, its clear they can be effective. I do have at least 2 guns where the barrel vibrations are quite audible. One is a rail gun and the other, a wood stocked 6.5 x 47 with 28 inch barrel...
