Sloughhouse BR Shooters held our 6th Chabot Special of the year at the Sac Valley Shooting Center in the heart of the Ione Triangle. This is the most popular match format we shoot and attracts shooters from multiple venues, HP, F-Class, and traditional Group/Score Benchrest.
We shoot (4) 3-bull targets at 200 yards using caliber specific (think UBR) targets for both group & score.
X’s are 11 so a 165 possible Score per 3-Bull Agg and the groups are actual measurement not broken back to MOA.
We had 10 shooters who decided to set off some early "fireworks" at the range to get Independence Day off to a great start.
We were greeted by mild temps and our typical flow out of the SW with just enough reverse to throw you out of the 10 ring if you missed it. Traffic was light being the middle day of the 3-day weekend so we got started right on time @ 8:15 and I kept things moving along, as I mentioned last month my 89 year old Mom who lives with me has been having some health issues so I wanted to get back home as soon as possible.
Target 1:
Score had the famous (infamous?) LR shooter Lane Buxton coming in 1st shooting that 6PPC that I sold him with a super 155, easily beating my 149 for 2nd, Mark Galloway also with a 149 took 3rd on the TB (group agg).
Lane took 1st in group with a .5943 Agg , I was 2nd with a .7143, fellow LR shooter Pete White was 3rd with a .7497.
Target 2:
Score was taken by Pete in 1st with a 155, outpacing Roy Luchini's 152 for 2nd, we had 3 shooters with 151's. Lane taking 3rd on the TB.
Group had Lane again laying down another .5 for 1st place, this time a .5630 (small agg of the match), Pete warming up with a .5860 for 2nd, Roy garnered 3rd with a .6993.
Target 3:
Score had Steve Raeder laying down a 152 with his 30BR for 1st place, beating out Lane who was 2nd also with a 152 losing the TB (smaller group agg), Jeff Rodriguez 3rd with a 150 beating out Francis' 150 also on the TB.
Group had Steve 1st with a .5677 agg, beating out Pete who took 2nd with a .6577, Lane was 3rd with a .7393
Target 4: Now it's back to our normal L-R switchy flow out of the SW, and the scores/groups reflected it.
only half to 3/4 tail velocity but just enough of our famous Ione Triangle reverse to tempt the adventurous to try it.
Yeh I know! It looks so good but it never lasts, and then you're holding 2-3 rings trying to finish.
Rule #1: It's the Ione Triangle NEVER trust the reverse!
Score was Pete 1st with a 148, just beating out Lane who had a 147 for 2nd, Jeff right behind in 3rd with a 146.
Group had Pete running away with 1st place finishing up with a dominating .5690 agg, next closest was Francis with a .7753, Roy Luchini 3rd with a .8287. Like I said just a wee bit tougher at the finish line. (Well maybe not for Pete!)

Thanks to Bill & Jeff for all their help in putting on these matches, also Steve & Roy for pitching in!
I couldn't pull these events off without the help I get from all of my fellow shooters!
Probably doing another Chabot in August. Have a great Sunday!
