Why Facebook?

Recently I have noticed that match results are being posted on Facebook instead of this forum. I suspect it is because it is difficult to post images on the forums. Why is this so and what, if anything, can be done to change this? Perhaps someone can explain this.
Hi Tim, it's real easy. Make a JPG or take a pic. Drag and drop in comments. There is a feature in the printer setting to "Print to a PDF". Drag and drop.
I think facebook is a fad. Something different.
Not much happens on that site. Mostly people posting pics of themselves, of their firearms, or their targets. If ya like to tell a story or brag about the last match it's wide open.

So now it's time to switch over to Accurate Shooter to see what is for sale. Then to FB to see who's FB'ing about what?

I don't have any problem posting images on the forums (see, e.g., post # 9 at https://benchrest.com/forum/threads/a-feel-good-story.102410/#post-863909), and it appears that several other folks don't seem to have any problem posting images (see. e.g., various posts at https://benchrest.com/forum/threads/we-need-a-humor-forum-until-then.80966/page-139).

I post match results here as well as those other places. I think the answer to your question is, convenience. People will post them where they’re already spending their time. It appears more people are on the Benchrest Facebook groups and Accurate Shooter than they are on this forum. That’s what you would need to change.

Dear Zippy 06, Please excuse my confusion about your reply. Where is the section you refer to as comments? Do you mean the body of my post or perhaps the attach files location with the paper clip icon? It would seem to me that the attach files would be the location to drop the JPEG file/photo.

Dear Tim, I used an incorrect term. I meant the body of the post. I seem to remember when hovering over the post. Seeing the attachment box pop up. Sometimes the item does not drop or attach to post. But, opens a new tab next to the post tab....PITA thingie.
I like your stories.
Thanks Tim B.

Thanks for the reply. That makes it clearer to my two remaining functioning neurons. Also thank you for saying you like my posts. That is a refreshing change from the many death threats and hate mail I usually get in response to my posts and that is just from my family. I recently was excommunicated by the new pope who expressed sorrow that the Catholic church no longer can burn people like me at the stake.

Wow! That was quick. For a Pope thingie...usually takes years.... I see you left out the fatwahs. Wise choice. Don't want to be a screaming Alpha or 1 eyed...

I have trouble posting our match results here.
It states the information is too large???
I'll keep trying.

I dont have a Facebook account so not posting there.

Take a pic and open up Paint. Cut and Paste. Go up to resize. Type in 50 in Hor. box. Crop. And save to desktop. Restore down BC. Drag and drop on post. If still to large. Resize again.

Don't forget the handstand to a back flip with a half twist. If you don't stick the landing the computer flashes FATAL ERROR!, erases all of your work and then shuts down for three hours. This was included in the last security upgrade you installed.

Probably the biggest couple of reasons to post onto Facebook and accurate shooter is the immediacy of seeing the results along with reaching out to a wider audience. If we hope to grow the interest in Benchrest, we need to do all we can to reach and attract a wider audience. Those two outlets do that to some degree.
This forum always catered to the serious Benchrest crowd and is still one of my favorites. Alas, it has been somewhat dormant for the last few years as a large number of those serious benchresters have either moved on or passed on. That is a loss.

This is a big reason for the drop-off. And a reason to try and attract new folks from other venues. There needs to be a bunch of replacement to just stay even.

FaceBook is just too easy for most people. They're already on their phone scrolling through it, and the algorithm keeps showing you pages that you visit frequently, along with an array of annoying ads.

I will see what can be done to keep range reports coming in for the Eastern Region of NBRSA. Holton is this weekend. I know there are a few members here that shoot in the region that don't go to all the events, but if they had a place that they knew always kept the results updated it could generate some interest.

Yea. Annoying ads. I thought they should be legit. First time I clicked on one in my home page. Got computer take over BS, Trojan, and 3 viruses. The ad looked like Midway. Yep. Top right called "Sponsored".

What is managements response to this question?

Their needs to be some corrective action to make it simpler for match directors or shooters to post on this site. (These people are posting on other sites but unable or difficult posting here)
Just my opion--I have no ideas or possible solutions.--I'm slow on computer stuff.

We perceive a problem--let the great minds solve this not just talk about it.
